  • Maximum seven-figure recovery - A retired man from Erie contracted AIDS as a result of a tainted blood transfusion that he received from Hamot Hospital in Erie during a routine surgical procedure. Tragically, the man died from AIDS. A claim was filed against the hospital on the ground that they gave the patient blood which they knew had not been tested for the AIDS virus even though they had other blood available for the patient which had been tested and found to be safe. This was one of the first AIDS transfusion cases filed in the United States, and we obtained a maximum seven-figure recovery on behalf of this unfortunate man's widow.

  • Significant six-figure recovery - A woman from northern Pennsylvania received an improper blood transfusion and developed several medical problems as a result of receiving the wrong blood type. We obtained a significant six-figure recovery on her behalf after filing a medical malpractice claim.

  • Significant six-figure recovery - An elderly woman from Pittsburgh entered a hospital for a hip replacement surgery. The surgery itself went fine. However, following the surgery, she was given a blood transfusion with the wrong type of blood, and she died soon thereafter. We filed a medical malpractice and wrongful death claim against the hospital on the ground that they gave the patient the wrong type of blood. A significant six-figure recovery was received for this woman's estate and her heirs.
