Large six-figure recovery — A 22-year-old woman from Westmoreland County was stabbed to death by a mentally ill patient at a half-way house. The attacker had recently been released from the psychiatric ward at a local mental hospital. We filed a claim against the physicians at the state hospital saying that they had not adequately treated the person and had released her when they knew, or should have known, that this person had homicidal tendencies. On behalf of the family of the young girl, we received a large six-figure recovery from the state.
