October 21, 2002 - Sumter County family wins $1million+ in medical malpractice suit
A jury has awarded a Sumter County family more than $1 million in a medical malpractice case. The jury ruled last week that Doctor Charles Moss and Sumter Urological Associates wrongly diagnosed problems with an obstruction in Plowden Fleming's urinary tract. Fleming was undergoing treatment for an obstruction in his urinary tract in the summer of 1999. Court documents say during a procedure, doctors nicked or cut a hole in the man's urinary tract near his bladder. Fleming's widow has sued for $5 million.
